LAVS 2016 – DAY 3 1/2 UPDATE

Around noon today, depending on one’s location in the race it was 104 or 108 degrees with “almost no clouds to block the sun” (reported from Last Annual Vol State facebook page). That is not even the hottest part of the day! Oh goodness. I feel for the runners out there. One more screwed runner has dropped out of the race. I hope the rest of them can hang in there with no serious problems due to the heat.

Westbrook is in Hampshire, Tennessee with one other crewed runner having accomplished 164 miles thus far. He has scooted on up to 21st place. Yay, Richard!

At the end of Day 2, upon his check-in, Richard has moved into 19th place (out of 50) in the unsupported division. There were 51 in the division but one runner quit sometime during day 2. Richard has covered 83 miles and is somewhere past Parker’s Crossroads. Wish him luck. It is HOT out there!
