THE RACE FOR THE AGES
“The Race for the Ages will finish at 6:00 pm, on Labor Day Monday, September 7, 2015. The overall winner will be the runner who accumulates the most miles. Each runner will start the number of hours before the finish to match their age (with a minimum of 24 hours.) Essentially, there will be a “start” every hour, beginning Friday, September 4 at 6:00 am (the oldest currently committed runner will be 84 on race day) and continuing until the last runners start at 6:00 pm on Sunday, September 6. An analysis of the age-graded performance charts indicates that the advantage falls to male runners between 71 and 77; and to females between 55 and 63.
In addition to the overall race; Standings will be kept for 50, 100, and 200 miles, as well as 12, 24, 48, and 72 hours. These will be based on the actual times and distances achieved. The course is a flat and fast one-mile loop in the Manchester, Tennessee City Parks.” – from ultrasignup.com
